Fun ways to participate – Mapping Trails and Parks

Helping out with mapping trails and parks is easy, and it’s a lot of fun!  If you are a regular visitor to a park, or a walker, this activity could be a perfect fit for you.  It involves simply walking with a hand-held GPS unit (which we will provide), making occasional notes about what is being mapped, and returning the unit to us or downloading tracks from it onto your computer.  The MTA works with cartographer Loree Speedy, who develops detailed park maps based on our input.  We’ve completed maps of the Kellman and Skena Reserves, Pleasant Valley Park, and Townsend Park.
